The strangest claims insurance actually covered

When you think about insurance claims, what comes to mind? A fender bender? A burst geyser? Maybe a misplaced phone? Sure, those are the bread and butter of the insurance world, but every now and then, something so strange happens that it feels like it’s been ripped from the script of a comedy show.

Believe it or not, some claims are so outlandish that even the most experienced insurance experts have to do a double-take.

In our royal kingdom, we’ve seen it all. From pets caught in bizarre mishaps to festive celebrations gone horribly wrong, your insurer is there to help you cope with these unexpected moments… Even the downright strange ones. Because while you can plan for some things, life is always full of surprises. And yes, some of those surprises are so peculiar that they deserve their own spotlight.

It’s not that we’re bored or anything, but instead of talking about probabilities and car insurance, let’s walk on the weird side. Grab a cuppa and keep reading as we look at the weirdest claims that weren’t only claimed… But successfully claimed. As in, paid out.

The puppy painter

There was this homeowner who decided to give their home-sweet-home a slight refresh. Honestly, a lick of paint can do wonders and cost way less than a major renovation… But you should probably not do what this guy did and leave the paint out. Unattended. The poor chap’s puppy came wandering in, dipped his tail into the open tin of emulsion and proceeded to use the rest of the house as his blank canvas.

The amazing thing is that the home insurance company accepted the claim.

The exploding turkey incident

One American family’s festive meal turned into a fiery disaster when their turkey deep fryer exploded, setting the kitchen ablaze. Thankfully, their insurance swooped in, saving Christmas (minus the turkey). The lesson? Don’t play with fire unless you’re covered.

If you’re planning on a deep-fried festive feast, then you may want to check out our home insurance. We’ve even got a fire and fury policy specifically for fire and weather-related damages.

The 3 times an accident

It’s bad enough to have 1 car accident, but what would you do if you managed to have 3 in 1 day? One hapless driver in the UK had to claim for 3 incidents in 1 day, which we imagine would make for a pretty embarrassing conversation. It started with a simple and accidental rear-ending of the car in front. Just a minor collision, but then he tried to reverse a little to see the damage, and didn’t see the car behind him and smooshed its front bumper. The final nail was when he stepped out to exchange insurance details and opened his door straight into a passing cyclist.

Hopefully everyone was unharmed, and hopefully the driver had better days after that.

The King Price connection

You know, we think that we’ve seen it all in our kingdom. Seriously, there have been some unusual claims logged with our superhuman claims agents, but we haven’t had the opportunity to deal with a claim about exploding poultry. But if that happens, just know that we would definitely be there for you as much as we can.

We’re here to protect your valuables from life’s unexpected twists. So, when you think, ‘Nah that would never happen to me’, think again. Because sometimes, the weirdest things do happen, and when it does, we’ve got your back.
